How effective are post exchanges?

Do you find post exchanges benefit your forum? How has it helped your community?

I've done post exchanges alot, mostly going a few years back, but I recently got back into running/growing a forum, so I'm using post exchanges to help give my community a boost, and of course content. Without post exchanges it'd be much harder to grow, and maintain an active community. I don't plan on doing post exchanges forever, but most likely for awhile until my community doesn't need it anymore.

I personally find them for very helpful especially for new forums.

They can be the best thing for your forum and to help network your link to other sites. I've done many but one of my current exchanges is nearly 9 years going right now with nearly 6k posts done between us.

Been doing it for some year or so and it does help. Getting posts and content going helps allot that keeps the website/forum active and makes new members to able to join

You are not having to go thru a middle-man, so that makes them much cheaper. For instance, on one site I know, you can write and get posts in return, but you get less posts in return than what you write - mainly to pay the exchange owner.
